Nine international leaders in health from two of the world’s most geographically diverse countries visited QUT’s School of Public Health as part of the Australian Government’s AusAID funded Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships.

Over the 13-week training program, the aim was to develop the knowledge and leadership skills of current and potential leaders in the area of pandemic preparedness and health disaster management. This was achieved by combining theory and practical based training activities including lectures from QUT staff and industry professionals, as well as site visits to a range of emergency and disaster management facilities.

The Nursing Summer School was a one-week summer education program for postdoctoral nurses. The program consisted of 30 hours of onsite instruction at the QUT School of Nursing and Midwifery, and 20 hours of preparation and follow-up. The two major goals of the program are to assist participants to develop a competitive research proposal for submission for external funding; and develop strategies to prepare a manuscript for publication.
